The Somme Battlefield Pipe Band

  • 13 March 2024
  • Uncategorised

Anyone who has been at the Lochnagar Crater on July 1st will know of our deep appreciation and friendship with the Somme Battlefield Pipe Band. For many years, they have been a mainstay of our ceremony, with the lone piper often walking ghostlike out of the mist at the beginning, through to the rousing pipes and drums punctuating moments during and at the close of the event.

With that in mind, we wish to extend our enduring gratitude and thanks to a great and trusted supporter of Lochnagar, Yves Holbecq, who, due to personal reasons, steps down from his role as president of the SBPB association but remains as Pipe Major. We also congratulate our dear friend Cyrille Delplanque on his being voted president. Long may our collaboration continue.
